Roscoe Collegiate High School evolved as the result of a collaborative partnership between Roscoe ISD, Texas State Technical College-Sweetwater, and Western Texas College. The focus of this Early College High School Grant project is to showcase Roscoe Collegiate High School’s efforts in the areas of student personalization, college connections, and problem-based learning. Roscoe Collegiate High is located in Nolan County in West Texas and serves a majority Hispanic and economically disadvantaged student population. The mission of Roscoe Collegiate High School, through partnerships with TSTC and WTC, is to provide each student with an accelerated, rigorous, and blended education leading to an Associates Degree, or up to 60 college credit hours upon graduation. The staff is committed to providing personalized and supportive instruction that will enable students to meet the high academic standards of state assessments, college entrance exams, and the requirements of college curriculum.
By design, Roscoe Collegiate stands out from other early college high schools. Roscoe Collegiate serves grades 7-12 in a small rural community in West Texas. Roscoe Collegiate is unique in that currently no other early college high school in Texas is serving grades 7-12 in a rural setting. Roscoe Collegiate is also one of seven small schools piloting the AVID program, and at this time, it is one of three AVID programs in Region 14 Education Service Centers’ area. Roscoe Collegiate is currently outperforming other local schools with similar demographics on state standardized tests, college readiness, graduation rates, numbers of students enrolled in dual-credit courses, the incorporation of instructional technology, as well as in developing partnerships with local colleges.
We encourage and welcome interested parents, community members and fellow educators to come by and visit.
