Devin Turk - Director of Bands
Devin Turk is the Director of Bands for the Roscoe Independent School District. Prior to his appointment at Roscoe, Mr. Turk was a student teacher and an Assistant Band Director for the Sweetwater Independenent School District. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 2008 with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. Mr. Turk studied trumpet under Professor Will Strieder, Conducting and Wind Literature under Christopher M. Anderson and Dr. Sarah McKoin, and Band Techniques under Christopher M. Anderson and Dr. Keith G. Dye. While at Texas Tech, he was a member of the 450-member "Goin' Band From Raiderland", the "Court Jesters" Basketball Band, and the Concert and Symphonic Bands. He's been a staff member of the Texas Tech Band and Orchestra Camp since 2005. Mr. Turk has been fortunate enough to have performed with many prominent conductors, composers, performers and teachers such as Phil Smith, Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra; composers Joseph Turrin, John Mackey, and Eric Whitacre; The Canadian Brass, and Grammy Award-winning Jazz Artist, Brad Leali. His professional affiliations are held with the Texas Music Educators Association, the Association of Texas Small School Bands, the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Music Educators National Conference, and the National Band Fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi. Mr. Turk currently lives in Sweetwater, TX with his wife Ash-Leah, a graduate of Texas Tech University and former flute and piccolo player in the Goin' Band and University Band. Mr. Turk directs the Roscoe Plowboy "Big Purple" Marching Band (8th-12th grades), as well teaching Beginning Music and Recorders to the 4th grade, Beginning Band with the 5th grade, and Intermediate Band with the 6th & 7th grades.
