Hi! My name is Debbie Nevins. I was raised in Richardson and graduated from J.J. Pearce HS. I went to North Texas State University and majored in Parks and Recreation with a minor in Business. I was a Park Ranger with the US Army Corps of Engineers. I met my husband, Kenneth who is a Game Warden while working there. He transfered to Sweetwater in 1985 and that left me very few Parks and Recreation options, so I went back to school in 1990 to get my teaching certificate. I went through the Alternative Certification Program at Region 14. When I first began teaching in Roscoe 16 years ago, I taught 7-12 Special Education, only. My second year I was also coached the Academic Challenge team. The kids made it all the way to the semi-finals that year! I had to give up the Academic Challenge team when I took over the Yearbook. This will be my 11th year to be the Adviser for the Gleaner. I had an interest in photography, so I took the position when it was offered to me. Boy, have I learned alot! Yearbook is a full-time job in itself. For the past several years I have also picked up K-6 Special Ed, making my job description very diverse.
